Driftwood Vet is a mobile veterinary practice offering equine and small animal services to the Black Hills. Dr. Rachel Shutter is excited to continue to provide high-quality medicine to clients, now in the comfort of their own home or barn! Dr. Shutter loves all aspects of veterinary practice, but especially enjoys building relationships with clients and their animals.

Driftwood Vet offers personalized, compassionate care and understands no two situations are the same. Dr. Shutter believes communicating expectations, having honest conversations, education, and building trust both with owners and their animals are just as important as any diagnostics or treatments.

Growing up on the outskirts of Cheyenne, Wyoming on a bison ranch, Dr. Shutter is no stranger to hard work. She learned to ride and train horses at a young age, allowing her many fun and unique opportunities over the years (ask her about her camel training experiences). She was involved in 4-H and Cheyenne Frontier Days for much of her youth.

Always knowing she wanted to be a veterinarian, she obtained her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Wyoming and her doctorate from Washington State University. Dr. Shutter has been practicing veterinary medicine in the Black Hills since 2016. When not working, you will find Dr. Shutter spending time with her family riding horses, hiking, or traveling.
